Abraham Lake Canada 141

Abraham Lake is located north of Saskatchewan Crossing and east of Banff National Park. This scene was taken in October.

Aspen & Stars 137

This exposure ran for 63 minutes leaving a circular pattern of star trails behind the pattern of aspen branches. The North Star is the center dot of the star wheel.

Aspen Wheel 135

It is impossible to not look straight up to the heavens when under the canopy of golden aspen leaves because the yellow contrasts so delightfully with the vibrant blue autumn sky.

Coyote Gulch Cottonwood 162

A cottonwood tree could never grow this slender unless it was in a place protected from the wind such as this canyon. It must grow tall to capture as much sun as possible and this results in a great measuring stick for the scale of the scene.

Dillon Lake 4 Seasons 102-4

This scene dissapeared from its present state almost from the moment I took the last photo.  The background is there, and the lake is there, but the foreground is completely changed........

Dillon Lake 53

Breaking fog left behind a nights accumulation of frost in this magic scene.

Geyser Steam 174

This fantastic pattern of steam is created by the pre eruption phase of Grand Geyser in Yellowsstone National Park.  Yellowstone in mid winter provides a never ending display of steam drifting in the wind, frost coated on trees and even animals and icicles in abundance.  The colder it is, the better the show.

Hanging Lake 103-2

The same place in different seasons of the year can look so different it is hard to think they can be the same location.

Lake O'Hara, Canada 187

In the detailed description I am able to explaine a few things about this location, but as for describing the beauty - I am at a loss........

Maroon Bells In The Fall 185

I nearly missed this glorious autumn moment as I lay hunkered down in my tent through two days of rain and snow.

Moonlight and Steam 9

Geyser steam in Yellowstone National Park

Moonlight on Trees 68

This mysterious scene was created when geothermal steam rose into the cold February air ----

Opabin Plateau, Canada 142

The late afternoon sun sets the Larch tress aglow in their yellow splendor in contrast to the dark shadows of approaching dusk -----

Opabin Plateau, Yoho National Park 142-In

Oh, the Canadian Rockies. These gorgeous larch trees glow in the late autumn sunlight in Yoho Nat. Park, near Lake Louise.  The text in the photo says it for me........

Red Aspens 114

Red Aspens are unusual.  In some years none will turn red.

Shrine Pass Clearing Storm 151

You will very rarely see Indian Paintbrush blooming so late in the season as to be caught by an early snow........

Shrine Pass Fog 150

August 8 fog can be your friend when carrying a camera. It can obscure a dull background, magically soften a harsh scene, make the light very even so that the film exposes uniformly and create mystery ---

Spirit Island, Canada 140

Not every day needs to be topped by a clear blue sky.  While that would have made it possible to see more of the distant mountain peaks, this moody image is very delightful in its own special way.  The quiet light turns a "trumpet call" into a peaceful "flute" melody........
